Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG\’s own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles.

The Role
The Commissioning Project Manager will support the Commissioning Function Lead and oversee all commissioning activities associated with the delivery of the project for the assigned site, ensuring the delivery of the project in full compliance with the pre-determined standards of safety, quality, environmental and security and the conditions of contract.

Project Delivery
- Oversee the production of commissioning strategies and other high-level control documentation.
- Co-ordinate the review & approve documentation to support project delivery, including:
- Commissioning plans
- Setting to Work procedures
- Site Acceptance procedures
- Commissioning reports
- Method Statements/Safe Systems of Work
- Risk Assessments
- Liaise with sub-contractors and suppliers to support the generation and review of:
- Control Plans
- Factory Acceptance Testing documents
- Setting to Work documents
- Site Acceptance Testing documents
- Inactive commissioning documents
- Witnessing Setting to Work and ensuring that the documented procedure is being followed developed and signed off.
- Liaise with client commissioning function and ensure client commissioning process and license conditions are abided by
- Management of commissioning team on all on-site testing, including senior commissioning engineers, commissioning engineers and commissioning technicians
- Reporting any plant and equipment issues through to the NSG site Project Manager and support the rectification process in a timely manner.
- Ensure and promote effective communication and working between disciplines to support the overall delivery of the project objectives.
- Ensure commissioning attendance at FATs, ensuring that the supplier carries out the testing in accordance with the agreed commissioning procedure.
- Ensuring that the supplier\’s equipment is installed as per the installation documentation and inspection has been undertaken to allow acceptance to proceed to Setting to Work.
- Provide commissioning input and support throughout the entire project delivery life-cycle.
Qualifications and Skills
Qualifications
- Engineering degree- Desirable
- Higher National Certificate in Engineering / Project Management- Desirable
- Nuclear Triple Bar- Desirable
- Membership of appropriate technical / professional body- Desirable
- IOSH Managing Safely or Level 2 Health & Safety in the Workplace or equivalent- Relevant training will be provided if required
Experience & Knowledge
- Well organised with the ability to work with timescales and demonstrate attention to detail- Essential
- Routine recording and reporting of information both verbal and numerical- Essential
- Commissioning experience on a nuclear licenced site- Essential
- Supplier witness testing- Essential
- Experience of developing test documentation- Essential
- Control panel design experience- Desirable
- general knowledge of mechanical and process engineering disciplines- Desirable
- Fault finding- Desirable
- Onsite supplier management- Desirable
- Used to dealing with confidential and commercial information- Desirable
