NSG Environmental Ltd has been delivering work programmes in the nuclear industry for over 40 years. Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG's own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles. The Role
To competently perform the duties of a qualified technician as part of a team engaged in the installation, modifications, maintenance, repair, testing and trials of all types of systems and equipment as instructed by Project Manager / Supervisor / Project Engineer, in accordance with relevant drawings and Safe Systems of Work.
- Perform technician tasks encountered in activities such as:
- Installation
- Operations (including testing and trials)
- Maintenance and repair
Carry out support installation, modification, EMIT (examination, maintenance, inspection & test), decommissioning tasks as required. Work from schematics / diagrams / drawings to install equipment. Install systems and equipment in such a way as to comply with any relevant regulatory or legislative requirements. Complete and maintain as necessary all associated records and documentation.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of a recognised electrical apprenticeship or equivalent training
- City and Guilds Level 3 certification in Electrical Engineering
- IET 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Qualification
- Experience in electrical installation, examination, maintenance, inspection & test, decommissioning
- Familiar with site / factory work environments
- Fully conversant with IEE Regulations
- Work experience within engineering, science or construction environment
- Familiar with working on nuclear licensed site or similar with specific hazards / operations
