Job overview
The Suffolk Rehabilitation and Recovery Service (SRRS) is a specialist 10-bed mixed-gender inpatient rehabilitation ward based in Ipswich. We support people with complex and enduring mental health needs to achieve meaningful recovery, maximise their independence and successfully transition back into their communities.
We are looking for a compassionate, motivated and recovery-focused Mental Health Nurse who shares our belief that every person has the potential to progress, develop new skills and work towards a fulfilling life beyond hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to join a service that values therapeutic relationships, person-centred care and the positive difference that rehabilitation can make.
As a nurse within SRRS, you'll be part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Psychiatry and Rehabilitation Workers. We support patients to achieve individual recovery goals, whether that involves developing daily living skills, managing physical and mental health needs, accessing education or employment opportunities, strengthening community connections or preparing for discharge.
Main duties of the job
Acting as a Primary Nurse for a defined group of patients, developing therapeutic relationships and coordinating high-quality, person-centred care planning in partnership with patients, families, carers and the wider MDT.
Supporting patients to develop the skills and confidence required for successful community living, promoting independence.
Leading and contributing to recovery-focused interventions that enable patients to move through stages of rehabilitation and towards less restrictive environments where appropriate.
Preparing for and participating in multidisciplinary reviews, CPA meetings, ward rounds and discharge planning processes, ensuring patients are actively involved in decisions about their care and treatment.
Administering, dispensing and managing medication safely in accordance with Trust policy and professional standards, including supporting patients through graded medication self-administration programmes.
Undertaking comprehensive nursing assessments including mental health assessments, risk assessments and physical health monitoring, whilst ensuring physical health needs are identified and addressed alongside mental health recovery.
Delivering evidence-based interventions and facilitating therapeutic groups that promote recovery, wellbeing, emotional regulation, independent living skills and community integration.
Maintaining accurate, timely and high-quality clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards
