Are you looking for a role where you can develop your leadership skills and have the opportunity to enhance patient care? Lark ward is a 10 bedded Male PICU (Psychiatric intensive care unit) with a 136 Suite attached in Ipswich, covering both the Suffolk and Norfolk area.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate leadership, communication, risk assessment and knowledge of the Mental Health Act.
  • Work in a caring and empathic way towards patients and staff.
  • Lead quality improvement projects and contribute to ongoing service improvements as a charge nurse.
  • Lead a care team to advocate for patients' needs and support staff in their roles.
  • Keep up to date with NICE guidelines and local procedures and share changes with the team.
  • Take lead in designated ward areas (e.g., infection control, safeguarding).
  • Contribute to gatekeeping of patients to facilitate safe, timely, and effective transfers in and out of PICU.
  • Ensure adequate supervision for allocated staff.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement projects where relevant.
  • Be trained in, or able to be trained in Prevention and management of violence and aggression.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act.
  • Excellent record keeping skills, including care documentation and audits.
  • Strong communication skills within the multi-disciplinary team and with other professionals such as social care.
