We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Trainee Systemic Psychotherapist to join us working in Central Norfolk CFYP. The suitable candidate will have completed the AFSP accredited post graduate training in systemic therapy to intermediate level and may have secured a place on MSc (or equivalent) in systemic and family psychotherapy training. If not, the expectation will be that the applicant will secure training within 6-12 months of being employed.

You will be initially hosted in the youth service. Currently CFYP operates as an under 14 CAMHS service and a 14-25 youth service, plans are progressing with realigning this to an under 18 CAMHS service and over 18 young adult service, you would be expected to work across the whole age range of the service.

You will be part of a supportive and committed MDT providing treatment and support to young people and their families, who are affected by specific mental health conditions. This role will have an emphasis on working with families and using a Family Therapy model. Based on service need and our wish to develop this important role as soon as possible, serious consideration will be afforded those applicants who have already secured a place on a family therapy qualifying course.

NSFT would fund the MSc training and the expectation would be that the person would move to a band 7 role upon successful qualification. You will be an advocate for the family and the importance of their involvement in the treatment of specific mental health.

CFYP benefits from a full MDT including mental health practitioners, Drs, Psychologists, and assistant practitioners, who seek to offer evidence-based interventions to enhance recovery, reduce the length of the illness, and enhance the confidence of parent/carers to support the young person. The team greatly values the unique perspective and contribution of family therapists.

Alongside working with individual families, this role offers the opportunity to join our reflecting team and to support parent support groups and multi-family groups. Undertaking the final part of family psychotherapy training is a big commitment and you will be supported to complete this. You will receive appropriate supervision from a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist, and we will ensure that you have sufficient clinical opportunities to fulfil the requirements of the course.

Supervision, professional development, and staff welfare are important to the service and time and support will be available to engage in all these important roles. Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other.

In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.

Why work for us? We have challenges as a Trust, but we have ambitious aspirations, are pushing ahead with exciting transformation work and we need dedicated individuals to support us on our journey.
