Job Description
This role is the Subject Matter Expert for all information regarding the arable industry, including combinable crops, sugar beet, animal feed, recycling, environment, and sustainability. The role is the technical liaison with the scheme owners, seeks new business opportunities, and manages the combinable crops and recycling team under the business unit banner of Arable & Horticulture.
Responsibilities
- Direct line manager of six team members of the combinable crops and recycling team. Includes monitoring performance, maintaining discipline, and recruitment.
- Liaising and providing support to the scheme owners and clients with technical expertise and information.
- Accountable for the certification process, working closely with the Senior Specialists responsible for the post-audit process, including any suspensions or withdrawals.
- Coaching and supporting the technical team, including assessors, to deliver the standards set for best-in-class customer service.
- Maintaining the NSF documented requirements for managing the schemes.
- Supporting Quality in the maintenance of accreditation for schemes.
- Managing any complaints or exposes in a manner that protects any NSF reputational risks.
- Representing NSF at shows and events.
- Working with the Sales & Marketings teams to seek new growth opportunities.
- Ensuring team members operate safely in line with legislation, Health & Safety requirements, including company policies and procedures.
- Other duties that are reasonably within the scope of the role and function, including any departmental projects allocated.
Qualifications
- HND/Degree in Agriculture or related subject.
- Relevant and practical experience in the schemes.
- Excellent technical knowledge of the specific agriculture sector, including knowledge of related official bodies and organisations.
- Expert knowledge of good agricultural practices and the key reputational risk areas.
- Knowledge of the issues that are on the consumers\’ minds.
- Ability to make difficult decisions, approaching them in a fair and logical way.
- Problem-solving skills, establishing root causes and preventative actions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
- Ability to organise and priorities the workloads of self and team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Lead Assessor qualification.
- Training qualification.
- Excellent understanding of the operation of third-party Certification Schemes within the Agricultural sectors.
- Experience in negotiating and having difficult conversations.
- Used to working in a matrix organization with high levels of collaboration.
