NSF is seeking a Technical Manager for a 6-month fixed-term contract, working on-site at Whitbread headquarters in Dunstable. This is a unique opportunity to work with one of the UK’s most iconic hospitality brands – Premier Inn, Beefeater, Brewers Fayre, and Table Table – serving over 5 million customers a month across the UK and Germany.

For over 20 years, Whitbread has trusted NSF to deliver expert technical support. Now, we’re looking for someone who can step in and make an immediate impact.

In this role, you’ll lead supplier projects, foster strong relationships, and drive continuous improvement – all while helping Whitbread maintain the highest standards of food quality and safety.

Responsibilities

Including, but not limited to:

  • Ensure the Whitbread brand’s integrity across products and suppliers
  • Build strong, lasting relationships across the entire supply chain
  • Drive continuous improvement through collaboration with Whitbread’s technical and supplier teams
  • Lead supplier projects with clear plans, policies, and communication
  • Audit supplier sites and support NPD and ongoing technical development
  • Provide expert technical advice to shape Whitbread’s policies and strategies
  • Manage technical specifications and ensure accurate documentation for technical data
  • Support procurement and F&B teams in crisis management and escalations
  • Guide, mentor, and develop team members with clear goals and regular feedback
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training for technical staff
  • Track project timelines, manage scope changes, and resolve conflicts proactively

Qualifications

  • Degree in Food Science, Biology, Nutrition, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • HACCP Level 3 certification
  • Lead auditor/assessor experience
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety, product development, shelf life, and food labelling
  • Experience in food industry sectors and working with industry, government, and associations
  • Proven track record in project management, training, auditing, and consultancy
  • Technical expertise in food safety process improvement and NPD launches
  • Strong understanding of food legislation, guidelines, and codes of practice
  • Skilled in leadership, communication, and teamwork
  • Proficient in document control and industry/client software and databases
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Strong communication skills across various channels (phone, email, meetings, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel (UK, Europe, and occasional worldwide)
