Are you working long hours, evenings, and weekends in hospitality, and ready for a change? At NSF, we’re offering a unique opportunity to transition your hospitality experience into a rewarding auditor role with structured hours and great benefits. This vacancy is specifically for Hull and Yorkshire.

What NSF can offer you:

  • Flexible Working: While travel to and from audits means it’s not strictly 9 - 5, you’ll enjoy a more predictable schedule than typical hospitality roles.
  • Localised Work, Less Travel: We keep your area local so you’re not spending hours on the road. That means more time at home and less time commuting.
  • Minimal Overnight Stays: Overnight stays are rare and only ever required if you choose to take them on.
  • Make a Visible Impact: You’ll visit restaurants, bars, and grocery stores, many you may already know as a customer, and help them meet high standards in food safety and compliance.

How Independent Contracting Works:

  • You operate on a self‑employed basis, completing assessments on behalf of NSF.
  • You are paid per audit, with travel expenses covered, where applicable.
  • You share your availability, and visits are scheduled based on your location, experience, and scheme coverage.
  • Work is offered on an ad hoc basis and can vary throughout the year depending on programme needs.
  • It offers autonomy, flexibility, and the chance to shape your own workload.

Responsibilities:

  • Do food safety checks at client sites.
  • Train and coach staff while on-site - we're compliance-seekers not fault-finders.
  • Write up inspection results and share with client managers.
  • Collect samples and send them to labs for testing.
  • Plan your inspections to meet deadlines.
  • Keep in touch with your team and client contacts.
  • Jump in on other tasks when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Level 4 qualifications in Food Safety and Health & Safety.
  • A degree in Environmental Health (or similar), a big plus.
  • Able to carry out audits in Food, Health & Safety, and Fire.
  • Can train safety advisors if needed.
  • Being registered with CIEH or IOSH, a big plus.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must have a full UK driving license.
