How Independent Contracting Works:
- You operate on a self‑employed basis, completing assessments on behalf of NSF.
- You are paid per audit, with travel expenses covered, where applicable.
- You share your availability, and visits are scheduled based on your location, experience, and scheme coverage.
- Work is offered on an ad hoc basis and can vary throughout the year depending on programme needs.
- It offers autonomy, flexibility, and the chance to shape your own workload.
Responsibilities:
- Do food safety checks at client sites.
- Train and coach staff while on-site - we're compliance-seekers not fault-finders.
- Write up inspection results and share with client managers.
- Collect samples and send them to labs for testing.
- Plan your inspections to meet deadlines.
- Keep in touch with your team and client contacts.
- Jump in on other tasks when needed.
Qualifications:
- Level 4 qualifications in Food Safety and Health & Safety.
- A degree in Environmental Health (or similar), a big plus.
- Able to carry out audits in Food, Health & Safety, and Fire.
- Can train safety advisors if needed.
- Being registered with CIEH or IOSH, a big plus.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must have a full UK driving license.
- Ready and willing to travel.
- Confident using Microsoft Office and our easy-to-use tools.
