We are hiring a UK Stakeholder & Community Engagement Manager to support the successful development and long-term operation of Nscale’s infrastructure locally. This role sits within the Global Affairs function and works closely with the wider business to ensure the project is delivered with local support and minimal disruption. You will act as Nscale’s on-the-ground representative, building relationships with local stakeholders and communities, managing engagement, and identifying and addressing issues early. You will play a critical role in ensuring the project is understood, supported, and delivered successfully. This includes working with local authorities, MPs, community groups, NGOs and other stakeholders, to ensure the project mitigates its impact and maximises its local benefits.

This role will suit someone with proven experience of engaging a diverse range of stakeholders, who is comfortable operating within complex and sometimes competing stakeholder environments, and is skilled at building trust, navigating different perspectives, and can confidently represent the voice of the community within the organisation.

What you’ll be doing

  • Local Stakeholder Engagement
    • Act as the primary local representative for Nscale, building and maintaining relationships with local authorities and planning bodies, MPs and local political stakeholders, community leaders and representative groups.
    • Develop and maintain a clear stakeholder map and engagement plan.
  • Community Engagement & Communication
    • Design and deliver a structured community engagement programme for the project.
    • Design and deliver consultations, public meetings, and briefings, ensuring two-way communication with local communities.
    • Ensure messaging is clear, consistent, and accessible across all audiences.
  • Issue Identification & Management
    • Maintain a detailed understanding of local community concerns and priorities.
    • Track and manage enquiries, complaints, and emerging issues with clear ownership and response plans.
    • Escalate risks early, including political opposition, media, or community concerns.
  • Project Support & Delivery
    • Work closely with programme and contractor teams to ensure community engagement is embedded in delivery.
    • Provide guidance to internal teams and contractors on how to engage with local stakeholders.
    • Ensure community considerations are factored into key project decisions.
  • Local Impact & Partnerships
    • Develop and communicate the local economic and community impact of the project, including jobs and skills, local supply chain opportunities, and community benefits.
    • Identify and build partnerships with local organisations (e.g. education providers, community groups).
  • Reporting & Insight
    • Provide clear briefings and updates to internal stakeholders, including senior leadership.
    • Monitor the local political and community environment and provide insight on emerging risks.

About You

  • 3–8 years of experience in community engagement, public affairs, local government, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of how local communities and decision-making structures operate (particularly in the UK planning system).
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure, development, or construction projects is strongly preferred.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility quickly.
  • Excellent communication skills — able to explain complex projects clearly and confidently.
  • Comfortable acting as the local “face” of a project and representing the organisation externally.
  • Able to manage competing priorities and operate effectively under pressure.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Experience working in politically sensitive or regulated environments.
