The Employee Relations Senior Manager serves as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on all matters related to workplace conduct, conflict, and compliance. This role owns the end-to-end employee relations caseload — leading impartial investigations, coaching leaders through complex people issues, and ensuring the organization's policies and practices are fair, consistent, and legally sound. The ideal candidate combines deep employment-law knowledge with strong judgment, discretion, and the interpersonal skill to de‑escalate sensitive situations and build trust across all levels of the organization.
What You'll Be Doing
- Document findings and recommend appropriate corrective action.
- Advise and guide employees and managers on the interpretation and consistent application of company policies, procedures, applicable employment law and with guidance from the employment legal team.
- Lead or contribute to organisation‑wide Employee Relations programmes and initiatives, including organisational change, redundancy and transformation activity involving multiple stakeholders.
- Monitor legislative changes and update policies and practices accordingly.
- Develop, review, and revise People policies and employee relations procedures.
- Partner with Legal and outside employment counsel on high‑risk matters.
- Manage terminations, offboarding, and reductions in force in a legally compliant, consistent, and respectful manner.
- Identify root causes and recommend proactive interventions.
- Design and deliver training for managers and employees on topics such as anti‑harassment, code of conduct, respectful workplace, and investigation best practices in collaboration with the Compliance team.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and engaged workplace culture.
About You
- Proven experience operating as an ER practitioner at a senior level, with the ability to execute independently while contributing to broader global strategy.
- Fresh, innovative, and data‑driven thinking applied to complex ER challenges — with a growth mindset and a track record of high‑impact outcomes.
- Strong business and people acumen, with excellent consulting, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills across diverse cultural contexts.
- In‑depth knowledge of UK and European employment law (including but not limited to GDPR, works council obligations, and country‑specific labour laws across the EU).
- Solid grounding in US employment law (ADA, ADEA, FMLA) is an advantage.
- Collaborative, influential, and decisive — able to lead and partner at all levels of the organisation while keeping stakeholders informed.
- Clear and inclusive communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues, influence decisions and support others through challenging topics.
- Sound judgement, with the ability to consider colleague experience, organisational impact and risk in a balanced way.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in complex settings and engage constructively with differing views.
