About the role

We are hiring a Chief of Staff, Legal to serve as a strategic partner and force multiplier to the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and the Legal leadership team at Nscale. This is a highly visible role focused on driving alignment, operational rigour, and execution against the Legal function’s most critical priorities, as well as ensuring Legal is tightly integrated into the company’s operating rhythm. You will operate at the intersection of strategy and execution: shaping leadership agendas, driving cross-functional initiatives (with Finance, People, Product, Engineering, GTM, and Operations), leveraging and optimising external stakeholder relationships, supporting decision-making processes, and ensuring accountability across the Legal organisation. This role requires exceptional judgement and organisation, executive presence, analytical capability, and the ability to influence without direct authority.

What you’ll be doing

  • Strategic partnership & leadership enablement: Serve as a trusted advisor to the CLO, helping shape priorities and ensuring alignment across the Legal leadership team. Design and manage the operating rhythm for Legal: leadership meetings, global team management, quarterly reviews, annual planning cycles, and cross-functional stakeholder cadences. Prepare executive briefings and decision-support materials (including board and committee materials, where relevant) to drive clarity and alignment. Anticipate risks, surface trade-offs, and support high-quality decisions for the CLO and Legal leadership.
  • Legal-wide execution & cross-functional leadership: Drive execution of Legal’s highest-priority initiatives (e.g., operating model changes, policy rollouts, tooling/process improvements), ensuring clear ownership, milestones, and measurable outcomes. Partner with functional leaders to remove blockers and maintain execution momentum on company priorities that require significant legal input. Lead or co-lead cross-functional projects requiring executive coordination and strong stakeholder management. Co-ordinate matter management and project discipline across the legal & compliance function, through implementation and continuous improvement of precedents, tooling, advisory panels, cross-functional governance controls and systemic reporting. Establish and track KPIs/OKRs aligned to Legal’s strategic objectives and provide visibility on progress and risks.
  • Planning, governance & stakeholder management: Own and continuously improve Legal planning processes (OKRs, resourcing and budgeting alignment, performance metrics). Support board and SLT engagement by coordinating materials, metrics, and follow-ups tied to Legal and governance commitments. Ensure accountability mechanisms are in place across the Legal leadership team.
  • Communication & alignment: Draft and refine internal communications on Legal priorities, key initiatives, and operating updates. Ensure consistent messaging and alignment from Legal leadership to the broader organisation. Facilitate Legal offsites, leadership workshops, practical legal training, professional development and strategy sessions.
  • Continuous improvement & scaling: Identify opportunities to improve decision-making frameworks, operating models, and internal processes as Legal scales globally. Act as a cultural steward, reinforcing accountability, transparency, and high-performance standards within Legal.

What you need

  • 10+ years of experience in strategy, operations, consulting, investment banking or top-tier legal practice, high-growth technology environments, or similar roles.
  • Proven experience working closely with a C-suite or equivalent leadership team (preferably in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment).
  • Strong financial and operational acumen, with the ability to translate strategy into measurable execution plans.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing senior executive materials.
  • High emotional intelligence and executive presence; able to influence and build trust across senior stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives without formal authority.
  • High degree of discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.

Nice to haves

  • Experience in or with top-tier law firms, in-house legal functions, legal operations, governance, compliance, or regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting board/audit committee processes and governance rhythms.
  • Familiarity with OKR design and operating cadence design in scaling organisations.
