We are hiring an Enterprise Architect to define and drive the long-range technology direction for Nscale, building the architecture, governance, and programme structures needed to support scale and public company readiness. This is a Director-level, strategic and hands-on role within Enterprise Systems under the COO organisation, reporting to the Senior Director, Systems Integrations. You will work across Infrastructure, Security, BizOps, Finance, IT, and Engineering to align systems, data, security, and processes with Nscale's operating model, while guiding major initiatives across ERP evolution, data platform growth, and data integration. As Nscale continues rapid growth through both organic expansion and strategic acquisitions, this role will be central to reducing complexity, setting standards, and shaping how the business scales with clarity, control, and speed. You will also play a critical role in M&A integration architecture, helping evaluate target technology estates, define integration strategies, and support leadership decisions on strategic technology investments.
What you’ll be doing:
- Define and maintain enterprise-wide architecture standards across applications, data, security, and infrastructure.
- Produce reference architectures, integration patterns, and design principles that are actively used in delivery.
- Act as design authority for major initiatives, reviewing and shaping solution designs from concept through implementation.
- Maintain clear, lightweight documentation and architectural decision records.
- Partner closely with Infrastructure, Security, Systems Integration, and BizOps to align architecture with operational needs.
Transformation Delivery & Adoption:
- Own and drive the multi-year transformation roadmap across ERP, DC technology, data platforms, integrations, and corporate systems.
- Assess current-state architecture, identify gaps and risks, and define pragmatic target states.
- Define success criteria for major rollouts and ensure delivery aligns to business outcomes.
- Support onboarding and training programmes for new platforms and systems to drive adoption and consistent use.
- Ensure sequencing is realistic and delivery-focused, clarifying what is built, when, and how teams transition.
M&A Architecture & Integration Strategy:
- Lead technical due diligence for acquisitions, assessing technology estates, integration complexity, and architectural fit.
- Define integration strategies for acquired companies, determining what systems to retain, migrate, or retire.
- Evaluate the best approaches for joining systems, including full migration, co-existence patterns, or selective integration.
- Build repeatable M&A integration playbooks that accelerate time-to-value while managing risk.
- Partner with Corporate Development, Finance, and IT to inform deal valuation and integration planning.
Research, Governance & Execution Oversight:
- Conduct structured desk research to evaluate technology options, market landscape, and emerging patterns.
- Build comparison frameworks across technical, commercial, and lifecycle dimensions to inform build-vs-buy decisions.
- Run governance forums that enable fast, informed decisions and clear trade-offs.
- Track architectural risks, dependencies, and technical debt through to resolution.
- Produce concise steering materials that give executives visibility on progress, risks, and readiness.
Vendor, Compliance & Capability Enablement:
- Act as the technical counterpart for strategic vendors and delivery partners, ensuring solutions align to Nscale standards and security requirements.
- Lead architectural evaluations of platforms and tools, supporting commercial decisions with a lifecycle and integration lens.
- Maintain visibility of architectural debt, end-of-life systems, and areas requiring redesign, and drive structured remediation plans.
- Work with Security and GRC to ensure architecture, data flows, and documentation meet audit, SOX, and compliance expectations.
- Mentor architects, senior engineers, and programme leads, building shared standards, guidance, and training materials that improve delivery consistency.
KPIs:
- Multi-year transformation roadmap delivery across ERP, data platforms, integrations, and corporate systems.
- Time-to-value and risk management for M&A integration programmes.
- Reduction of architectural debt, end-of-life systems, and environment complexity.
- Architecture, data flow, and documentation readiness for audit, SOX, and compliance expectations.
About You:
- 5+ years of experience in large-scale systems change as a hands-on enterprise architect.
- Experience leading technical due diligence and post-merger integration for technology acquisitions.
- Strong research skills with the ability to synthesise complex technical information into clear, actionable insights.
- Proven track record evaluating enterprise platforms such as ERP, data platforms, and integration tools with a critical, independent lens.
- Experience designing integration patterns, including API strategies, data migration approaches, and co-existence architectures.
- Strong systems thinking with a bias for simplification and reducing complexity.
- Ability to balance long-term architectural planning with pragmatic execution and speed.
- Confidence translating complex designs into simple explanations for executives and cross-functional teams.
- Comfort leading in ambiguous, fast-growth environments and working effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders alike.
- Strong partnership skills across Infrastructure, Security, BizOps, Finance, and Engineering.
