We are recruiting a Senior Compute Platform Specialist to join an NSC Global engagement supporting a client in the life sciences sector. You will be responsible for the operational reliability of both cloud and on-premises compute environments, working alongside the client's internal IT function and other partners. This is a hands-on senior role with genuine input into strategy. You will assess, recommend and implement infrastructure technologies, drive continuous improvement, and own lifecycle management across the compute estate. The environment is regulated, so quality of documentation and change discipline matter as much as technical depth.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and operate infrastructure solutions in Microsoft Azure and on-premises Azure Stack HCI.
- Work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure system implementations meet industry standards, internal standards, compliance requirements and security mandates.
- Provide oversight of third-party service providers, from proposal evaluation through project execution into operational support.
- Own and maintain lifecycle management of compute platforms and services.
- Drive continuous improvement across all compute infrastructure services.
- Carry out routine preventative maintenance, system checks and updates, resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to less-experienced colleagues.
- Author and maintain HLDs, LLDs and supporting documentation.
- Participate in governance forums including Technical Design Authority, Change Management and Problem Management.
Qualifications
- Technical
- 10+ years as an IT infrastructure systems administrator across cloud infrastructure (Azure) and on-premises HCI platforms. (E)
- Proven proficiency across PKI systems, Active Directory, file services, backup and recovery, Windows and Linux Servers, patch management, vulnerability management, remote access management, and network protocols, including SMTP, NTP, and DNS. (E)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Intune for mobile device and application management. (P)
- Recent hands-on experience with end-user computing, and willingness to roll up sleeves on complex technical issues. (P)
