NSB Recruitment is working in partnership with a leading consultancy to appoint a Principal Consultant to their growing Sustainability team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a leadership role on high-profile projects, supporting clients in achieving ambitious environmental goals and delivering measurable outcomes for a low-carbon future.
As Principal Consultant, you will combine technical expertise with excellent project management skills, building trusted client relationships, guiding design teams, and mentoring colleagues to develop their potential.
Responsibilities- Leading day-to-day project management across major client assignments.
- Undertaking detailed carbon modelling and driving the development of this discipline.
- Facilitating workshops and technical meetings with clients and design teams.
- Preparing proposals and costings for large, complex schemes.
- Acting as the primary client contact, ensuring clear communication on progress, budgets, and risks.
- Supporting and mentoring colleagues through coaching, guidance, and delegation.
- Managing your own workload and that of direct reports.
- Contributing to business development and client presentations.
We are seeking a Chartered sustainability professional with:
- Strong expertise in carbon modelling (ideally using OneClick).
- Experience in planning-related reporting for whole life carbon and circular economy (e.g. GLA).
- Detailed embodied carbon and materials knowledge to support reduction and circular economy strategies.
- Confident presentation skills with the ability to lead client workshops.
- A broad understanding of industry carbon developments and their alignment with net zero strategies.
- Knowledge of wider sustainability policy and certifications such as BREEAM (desirable).
