NSB Recruitment is delighted to be working with a globally active infrastructure delivery organisation seeking to appoint an experienced Environmental & Social Manager to join their London-based team. This organisation delivers complex, turnkey infrastructure projects across healthcare, technology and government sectors throughout Africa and Southeast Asia. Working in partnership with government bodies, international lenders and export credit agencies, they operate at the forefront of delivering impactful, large-scale development.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced E&S / ESIA professional to take a leading role in managing environmental and social risk across high-profile international projects.
The Role
As Environmental & Social Manager, you will sit within a global team supporting projects from early-stage development through to construction and operation. You will take ownership of environmental and social compliance across the full project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with international lender standards and national regulatory frameworks.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the identification and assessment of environmental and social risks at early project stages
- Managing the procurement and delivery of key E&S studies (ESIAs, ESMPs, Stakeholder Engagement Plans)
- Overseeing specialist consultants producing environmental and social deliverables
- Supporting site-based HSE teams and stakeholder engagement activities
- Ensuring compliance with international lenders, regulators and wider project stakeholders
- Managing E&S monitoring and reporting throughout construction and operational phases
- Engaging with regulators, lenders and local stakeholders across multiple geographies
This role reports into the Global Environmental & Social Director (London-based) and will involve international travel at key project milestones.
We are keen to speak with professionals who can demonstrate:
- 10+ years’ experience within Environmental & Social consultancy (infrastructure or built environment)
- Strong experience managing and/or reviewing ESIAs, ESMPs, stakeholder engagement and monitoring programmes
- In-depth knowledge of international standards (e.g. IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, World Bank EHS Guidelines, OECD Common Approaches)
- Experience working within multidisciplinary and cross-cultural project teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
- A Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field
Desirable:
- Experience in West Africa and/or Southeast Asia
- French language skills
- Professional membership (IEMA, ISEP or equivalent)
