NSB Recruitment are working with a fast-growing, sustainability consultancy who are seeking a senior energy specialist to lead its London-based building performance capability. This role sits at the heart of how the business delivers low-carbon, high-performing buildings. You will guide strategy on major developments, act as a trusted technical authority for clients and design teams and grow a team of energy specialists delivering some of the most complex projects in the market.
This is a leadership role for someone who wants to shape outcomes, not just produce models. You will be responsible for how energy performance is defined, delivered and assured across the London project portfolio. That means setting standards, leading complex projects, and building a team that can consistently deliver at the highest technical level.
You will:
- Own the approach to energy strategy, modelling and performance evaluation across London projects
- Lead energy delivery on large, multi-building and mixed-use developments
- Translate carbon, energy and planning policy into clear, buildable design solutions
- Act as a senior technical interface for developers, planners and design teams
- Plan and manage team capacity to support project delivery and growth
- Review and sign off technical outputs to ensure accuracy, consistency and quality
- Develop junior and mid-level consultants through mentoring, training and project leadership
- Work alongside building services engineers to ensure modelling and performance are embedded early in design
- Drive improvement through internal best practice, technical guidance and innovation
You will already be operating at senior or principal level within an energy, sustainability or building performance consultancy. You will have strong hands-on and strategic experience across:
- Energy and carbon strategies for complex buildings
- Part L compliance using IES, Elmhurst or equivalent platforms
- NABERS UK assessments
- Operational energy and post-occupancy performance
- Dynamic thermal modelling and overheating analysis
You will also have:
- A degree in engineering, sustainability, physics or a related field
- Chartered status or a clear route towards it
- A strong understanding of London planning, energy and carbon policy
- Experience leading project teams and mentoring technical staff
- Confidence presenting to clients, architects and developers
- A commercial mindset and the ability to manage delivery risk and quality
