This role is focused on identifying and securing new business opportunities to drive revenue growth and improve profitability within a fast-growing digital energy services business. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for pitching and demonstrating proprietary digital energy solutions, both in person and remotely, to senior decision-makers across UK organisations.
You will typically lead sales engagements with a Net Zero Consultancy offering, alongside core energy management services, providing customers with a fully holistic solution. Innovative tools such as a reverse auction platform and funded energy monitoring solutions form key differentiators within the proposition. Key Responsibilities- Research target organisations and identify new business opportunities to grow the customer base
- Develop and implement strategies to successfully engage new prospects
- Build and manage a strong sales pipeline through proactive prospecting, relationship building and market awareness
- Generate leads and conduct cold calling to arrange meetings, either face-to-face or via video conferencing
- Build trusted relationships with customers and prospects, understanding their needs and developing tailored proposals
- Pitch digital energy and Net Zero solutions to senior stakeholders and decision-makers to successfully close deals
- Identify opportunities for sales campaigns and collaborate with Marketing to support execution
- Attend industry events and conferences to build relationships and generate new leads
- Accurately forecast sales performance and maintain detailed records of all sales activity within the CRM system
- Deliver presentations to customers and internal senior management
- Work towards quarterly and annual sales targets set by the Sales Director
- Internal: Service Delivery teams, Marketing team
- External: Managing Directors, Operations Directors, Client Services Directors
- Demonstrable experience selling Net Zero and/or energy management solutions
- Proven track record of delivering new business growth within an energy procurement environment
- Strong knowledge of the UK energy supply and procurement market
- Experience pitching to C-suite and senior stakeholders in a B2B environment
- Commercially astute, with the ability to create profitable proposals aligned to internal guidelines
- Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage a demanding workload
- Strong sales, presentation and storytelling skills
- Confident communicator with well-developed negotiation skills
- Comfortable making cold calls and initiating new business conversations
- Highly results-driven with a strong desire to exceed targets
