Overview

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial management of flagship highways projects in Bristol, guarding contractual and financial interests. You will work within the established commercial team to drive procurement, cost control, and forecasting while engaging with clients and suppliers. You’ll administer NEC contracts, steer change processes, and mentor junior colleagues. This role offers meaningful impact on major infrastructure and progression within a trusted contractor environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all commercial aspects of highways projects, safeguarding contractual and financial interests
  • Oversee subcontract tendering, evaluation and appointment
  • Manage cost reporting, valuations, invoices, forecasts and cash-flow
  • Monitor project performance, assess risks/opportunities and drive efficiency
  • Administer NEC contracts, including variations, compensation events and final accounts
  • Control change processes and ensure commercial compliance at all stages
  • Engage with stakeholders, clients and supply chain partners
  • Mentor and guide junior commercial team members

Key requirements

  • Significant Quantity Surveying experience in civil engineering or highways
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts and change control
  • Strong subcontract procurement, negotiation and cost management skills
  • Proven ability to deliver accurate commercial reporting and forecasting
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to lead and influence within a collaborative team environment
