NRL are recruiting a Senior Control Systems Engineer on a contract basis (inside IR35) to support critical infrastructure projects across the nuclear and highly regulated sectors. Based in Warrington, this is your opportunity to take ownership of complex automation systems and deliver high-integrity solutions that matter.

This is your chance to:

  • Be based in Warrington – with regular travel to client sites across the UK for surveys, commissioning, and delivery.
  • Take the lead on Siemens and Rockwell-based control systems – from concept through to commissioning.
  • Own the hardware and control panel design process – and ensure every detail meets the highest standards.
  • Deliver projects in nuclear and safety-critical environments – where precision and compliance are non-negotiable.
  • Work inside IR35 – with a contract rate of £50–£60/hr (umbrella) that reflects your expertise.

Your Role:

You’ll be responsible for the full lifecycle delivery of control and automation systems – from initial site surveys and design through to testing, commissioning, and client handover. You’ll lead on both software and hardware aspects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory frameworks. You’ll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and play a key role in delivering safe, reliable, and efficient solutions.

You’ll need to bring:

  • Proven experience with Siemens (TIA Portal, S7) and Rockwell (RSLogix, Studio 5000) platforms.
  • Strong background in hardware design and control panel engineering.
  • Experience working in nuclear or other highly regulated industries.
  • A proactive, delivery-focused mindset – with the confidence to lead from the front.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites across the UK.
  • Eligibility to obtain UK security clearance.
