This is a great opportunity for an experienced Plant Operator to join a highly skilled team in Aberdeen. The role is ideal for applicants with a mechanical background looking for a long-term contract, starting as soon as possible.

Location and Working Pattern

Based in Aberdeen, working Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week. The initial contract runs for six months.

Client Overview

On behalf of our client, NRL is recruiting for a Plant Operator to support a leading engineering business committed to safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate plant machinery and equipment safely and in line with procedures
  • Monitor process performance, gauges, control panels and instrumentation
  • Carry out routine equipment inspections to identify faults or potential issues
  • Conduct basic maintenance and housekeeping tasks
  • Record operational and maintenance data accurately
  • Report defects, breakdowns and safety concerns promptly
  • Comply with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
  • Load and unload materials, products or waste
  • Support plant start-up, shutdown and emergency response procedures
  • Assist maintenance teams during outages or repair work
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe workspace
  • Follow permit-to-work systems and site‑specific procedures
  • Use authorised mobile plant equipment such as forklifts or cranes
  • Take part in toolbox talks, safety briefings and improvement initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with operations, engineering and maintenance teams

Must‑have Requirements

  • City&Guilds qualification in a mechanical discipline or equivalent NVQ
  • Knowledge of plant operations and industrial processes
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • Effective troubleshooting, communication and teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail with accurate record keeping

Nice‑to‑have Skills

  • Forklift Truck Licence (training can be provided)
