NRL Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Occupational Hygiene Technician to work on behalf of one of our clients at Hinkley Point C.

The role is to support occupational health and environmental processes on the UK’s largest construction site.

Hours: Permanent site-based position, working five days a week (Monday to Friday) on-site, with the option of a 10–4 shift pattern

We are seeking a proactive and reliable EHS Monitoring Technician to support the delivery of on-site exposure monitoring and health risk assessments. The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day collection of occupational hygiene data, including dust, noise, vibration, and respiratory protection checks. This is a hands-on, field-based role that forms a critical part of our proactive health risk management programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with personal and static monitoring for airborne contaminants (dusts, fumes, vapours).

  • Deploy and retrieve noise dosimeters and static sound level meters.

  • Conduct hand-arm vibration monitoring and log exposure times.

  • Support RPE programmes through pre-use checks and face fit testing (training provided).

  • Use, calibrate, and maintain monitoring equipment following standard operating procedures.

  • Record, organise, and submit exposure data for review.

  • Carry out general site inspections to identify potential health risks.

  • Support health risk assessments, control implementation, and toolbox talks.

  • Maintain sampling media, logbooks, and equipment inventories.

  • Liaise with site teams to schedule and carry out monitoring with minimal disruption.

  • Support with Occupational Health Awareness Training

  • Provide a support function to the subcontractors to help ensure their compliance

Essential Criteria:

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and unafraid to ask questions or suggest improvements

  • Someone who takes initiative and contributes ideas to drive better outcomes.

  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow technical procedures precisely.

  • Physically capable of working in a construction site environment, including at height, in confined spaces, and outdoors.

  • Competent IT literacy (Excel, data entry, email communication).

  • Positive attitude to health and safety and worker wellbeing.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Prior experience in environmental, health & safety, or construction-based technician roles.

  • Any previous exposure to air quality, dust, RPE, noise, or vibration monitoring.

  • Completion of any BOHS P or M modules (e.g. P100 series, P601, M200 series) – preferred but not essential.

  • Current Face Fit Tester accreditation– or willingness to undertake training.

Training & Development Provided:

This is a developmental role with training provided, including:

  • CCNSG Safety Certification

  • Site induction and occupational health hazard awareness.

  • Face fit tester certification

  • BOHS P-series and/or M-series module funding (based on progression).

  • On-the-job shadowing, competency logbook, and CPD plan.

  • Progression towards technician-level competency across all major hygiene risk areas (dust, noise, HAVS, etc.).
