We are looking for an experienced and hands-on HR Manager to lead the HR function from their Teesside office.

Office-based in Teesside with site engagement as needed.

Our client delivers engineering and construction services for major infrastructure projects across multiple sectors, including Offshore Wind, Power & Renewables, Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Defence, and Data Centres. They work in close partnership with their clients to provide proven solutions to some of the most complex engineering challenges.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop the HR team, ensuring accountability for delivery.
- Handle employee relations issues professionally, including disciplinary and grievance cases.
- Partner with operational leaders on workforce planning across multiple projects.
- Design and implement proportionate HR policies and procedures to support business needs.
- Oversee recruitment and resourcing for office and project-based teams.
- Manage pay, terms and conditions for site staff, including application of NAECI where relevant.
- Drive employee engagement, culture, and retention initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and support HSQE on people-related matters.
- Report on HR metrics, workforce risk, and trends to the senior leadership team.
Must-have Requirements
- Proven HR management experience within engineering, construction, or a similar sector.
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law.
- Confidence to manage employee relations cases effectively.
- Previous experience managing and developing a team.
- Ability to communicate assertively and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Track record of implementing practical HR policy suitable for a growing business.
Nice-to-have Skills
- Familiarity with the NAECI (National Agreement for the Engineering Construction Industry).
- CIPD qualification or equivalent.
- Experience supporting a mobile or site-based workforce.
