We’re looking for four experienced Hydraulic Technicians to support BAE Systems at Scotstoun Shipyard in Glasgow. This short-term assignment is ideal for skilled technicians with strong hydraulic systems knowledge and the ability to work independently in a high-pressure environment.
Rate £320 per day PAYE (inclusive of holiday cover) – no uplift for night shifts
£15 food allowance per day (taxable)
Location and Working Pattern
Scotstoun Shipyard, 1471 South Street, Glasgow, G14 0XN
Shift pattern: 12 hours per day – day or night shifts possible
Client Overview
Our client delivers specialist engineering projects for BAE Systems within the naval sector, requiring highly skilled professionals to ensure critical systems meet the highest standards.
Responsibilities
- Carry out pneumatic and hydrostatic pressure testing on hydraulic systems
- Operate high-pressure hydraulic units independently
- Inspect and correctly identify hydraulic fittings to ensure system integrity
- Interpret and work from technical drawings accurately
- Maintain compliance with safety procedures during all operations
- Report and document testing results promptly and accurately
Start date: 1 October 2026
Must-have Requirements
- Proven experience in pneumatic and hydrostatic pressure testing
- Ability to run high-pressure hydraulic units without supervision
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic components and fittings
- Competence in reading and working from engineering drawings
- Willingness to undergo clearance for work on naval base vessels (BPSS or SC clearance advantageous)
- Local candidates to site and must be UK resident and have the RTW in the UK
Nice-to-have Skills
- Previous experience working within the naval or defence sector
- Existing BPSS or SC clearance or willingness to undergo clearance for work on naval base vessels
