Overview

We are seeking an experienced Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM) to support the delivery of the Margham Substation Project, a critical infrastructure initiative intersecting with a live rail environment. This role is pivotal in ensuring engineering assurance, safety compliance, and seamless coordination with Network Rail and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering assurance activities across all disciplines for the Margham Substation Project.
  • Act as the primary engineering interface between the contractor and Network Rail.
  • Ensure all engineering works are planned, designed, and executed in accordance with Network Rail standards and relevant legislation.
  • Manage the integration of substation works with the live rail track area, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum safety.
  • Oversee the production and approval of engineering documentation, including design submissions, method statements, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve engineering issues and ensure timely delivery.
  • Support the development and implementation of engineering controls and quality assurance processes.
  • Attend site meetings, technical reviews, and safety briefings as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a CEM or similar engineering leadership role within the rail sector.
  • Strong understanding of Network Rail standards, procedures, and approval processes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering works in live rail environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (e.g., HNC/HND/Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering).
  • Membership of a professional engineering body (e.g., ICE, IET) is desirable.

Desirable

  • Experience with substation or power infrastructure projects.
  • PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification.
  • Familiarity with CDM Regulations and rail safety protocols.
