You will act as a subject matter expert for your systems, supporting commissioning readiness, execution, and system handover while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Taking ownership of 2–3 critical systems, developing in-depth system knowledge and acting as the technical subject matter expert.
  • Producing and managing commissioning documentation, including procedures for testing, verification, and system validation.
  • Supporting design reviews to ensure plant layouts and system configurations facilitate efficient and effective commissioning.
  • Contributing to the detailed planning of commissioning activities, including ownership of defined commissioning test programmes.
  • Participating directly in site-based commissioning activities, ensuring safe and successful commissioning of site systems.
  • Reviewing and analysing commissioning results, producing clear and accurate technical reports summarising outcomes.
  • Ensuring commissioning activities comply with nuclear, environmental, and industrial safety regulations, aligned with international best practice.
  • Building strong working relationships with project delivery teams, site engineering, MEH functions, and plant operations to support integrated delivery.
  • Promoting and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and technical excellence throughout commissioning activities.

What You Could Have

  • Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent (e.g. HNC) with demonstrable experience as a mechanical and/or process commissioning engineer.
  • Experience working within highly regulated industries, such as nuclear, utilities, oil & gas, or heavy manufacturing is advantageous.
  • Baseline knowledge of EPR design or other PWR / power station designs.
  • Strong technical background in process system testing, including flushing, pump testing, valve testing, and associated activities.
  • Demonstrable experience working within robust safety and quality cultures.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical information.
  • Knowledge of radioactive waste systems and/or fuel route processes.
