We are seeking an experienced Construction Delivery Lead to join a major infrastructure programme in the UK. This role sits within the Construction Delivery Group and is responsible for overseeing construction activities delivered by Tier 1 contract partners.
The Construction Delivery Lead will report to the Senior Construction Delivery Manager and will be supported by Construction Delivery Managers. The role requires a strong on-site presence (typically around 50% site-based and 50% office-based), including leading meetings, producing reports, and managing stakeholders. This balance may vary depending on project needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop Construction Delivery Managers, ensuring they have a clear understanding of site activities and are fully supported to carry out their roles effectively.
- Fulfil line management responsibilities for Construction Delivery Managers, including performance management, coaching, and ensuring appropriate training is completed.
- Oversee all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) aspects of construction activities within allocated areas, in line with the Construction Phase Plan.
- Undertake and record safety and assurance inspections that support project KPIs, using the designated inspection and reporting tools.
- Share Construction Delivery Manager responsibilities depending on work area and scope complexity.
- When required and nominated, act as Construction Delivery Manager for specific areas of the works.
- Support effective coordination of construction sequencing, site setup, recovery planning, and resource allocation.
Education, Experience, and Skills
- Proven experience managing strategic construction planning, including site setup, sequencing, recovery plans, and resource allocation.
- Strong working knowledge of commercial principles related to construction delivery.
- Experience delivering large, complex infrastructure or construction projects.
- Ability to produce clear, concise, and informative reports.
- Motivational leadership style with the ability to build trust, collaboration, and high-performing teams.
- Relevant degree (or equivalent experience) in Civil Construction or a related discipline.
- Working knowledge of obligations under the CDM Regulations.
- NEBOSH, SMSTS, or IOSH qualification (or equivalent).
