The role sits within the Digital and Technology Commercial team and requires a driven and dynamic individual operating in a fast-paced high-profile environment. The successful candidate will act as the Commercial Lead working closely with the Commercial Specialist/Business Partner.

Responsibilities include:

  • Joining a small but high-performing, expert Commercial Team providing leadership, guidance, and constructive challenge to expert technical subject matter expert business professionals.
  • Delivering value and managing performance and risk over the full procurement lifecycle.
  • Working proactively and in response to specific challenges/issues as they emerge while managing stakeholders’ expectations effectively and sensitively.
  • Supplying commercial leadership to a committed, delivery-focused stakeholder community.
  • Understanding stakeholder needs, leading, managing the planning and executing various procurement activities to deliver requirements that drive value for money, are compliant with procurement law, and demonstrate best commercial practice.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Procurement Expertise - Procurement and commercial experience in a complex and policy-led environment, across the end-to-end lifecycle.
  • Managing Complexity: Experience of managing contracts with complex commercial structures to ensure value for money is achieved.
  • Demonstrating strategic thinking, flexibility, risk management, and resilience.
  • Decisive – Skills and/or experience in developing business cases/plans, commercial strategies, presenting commercial options to business stakeholders, and presenting commercial cases with robust reasoning and justification for approval at programme and delivery boards.
  • Building Relationships: Experience of building and influencing strong, productive relationships at all levels and with a variety of stakeholders in a highly complex, dynamic, and commercially focused environment.
  • Commercial Focus: Experience of delivering a high-quality commercial service across the full commercial lifecycle including knowledge and understanding of commercial policies and their practical application.
