Our client is a well established provider of specialist engineering services and products to the pharmaceutical, life science and process industries. Their highly skilled engineering team collaborate with clients and adapt to their needs to achieve successful outcomes.
The Role
As part of their continued growth our client is looking for a \’hands on\’ engineering manager or Lead Engineer, to lead a team of Design Engineers in the development and manufacture of their specialist products. This role will lead design activities but also oversee and manage the manufacturing process, so experience and understanding of fabrication is essential, as is a hands on approach to the role.
Responsibilities
- Reporting into the Engineering Director, The Engineering Manager will have responsibility for leading the engineering function and developing more junior members of the team.
- He / she shall be capable of overseeing the creation of or checking engineering documents such as: manufacturing drawings; test procedures; operating procedures; third party equipment specifications; engineering reports; design calculations.
- He/she shall be able to lead the design/analysis in the form of written reports and be able to present their findings concisely in meetings so as to optimize the design and manufacture process.
- He / she shall be computer literate and proficient with the use of Microsoft Office software and design software such as AutoCAD and Solidworks.
- He / she shall give technical direction to other Engineers.
- He / she may be required to provide technical support to commissioning and installation activities.
- He / she may be required to travel to attend customer meetings.
Specific Tasks:
- Carry out / check / approve calculations, specifications, reports, drawings/sketches and other technical documentation.
- Developing installation procedures.
- Project Management.
- Ensure engineering designs comply with Health & Safety Legislation.
- Ensure that project and company quality procedures together with business management systems are implemented at all times.
- Ensure that all relevant documentation is produced in compliance with legislation, codes and standards and client requirements.
- People Management- to include motivating, developing and performance management.
