MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE ENGINEER DAYS MONDAY TO FRIDAY, £42-46,000 BASIC PLUS BENEFITS. Major European Company but a family feel, friendly site. Hours 8am-5pm Monday to Thursday and 8am-4:30pm Friday.
The Company
Our client is a leading name in several fields of manufacturing, with a major European and UK presence spanning numerous operational plants. As part of the continued growth of the business they are presently seeking a Maintenance Engineer to provide engineering support for their manufacturing operation in Bedford.
The Role
The maintenance engineer will carry out planned maintenance, reactive repairs and project improvements on production equipment and site facilities. This individual is a time-served multi-skilled engineer able to work with electrical control systems to fault finding level as well as carry out mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic fault finding and repairs to a range of foam conversion equipment.
Objectives
- To monitor and inspect the condition of production equipment and site facilities and carry out maintenance and repairs as necessary to ensure safety and maximise uptime performance.
- To devise planned preventative maintenance schedules and update the Scheduling Software accurately and on time.
- Monitor line performance for operational efficiency, report OEE to management and devise improvements to existing processes.
- Complete root cause analysis breakdowns occur and implement solutions to mitigate reoccurrence.
- Assist with safety related issues on site including writing of risk assessments and safe operating procedures – a key member of the site safety team.
- Ordering and stock control of spare parts, generate critical spares lists.
- Ensure statutory records for equipment are maintained on time.
- Create and keep updated maintenance work lists and proactively report to management progress.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Strong fault diagnosis skills on industrial systems to rectify breakdowns to production machinery and site facilities.

- Manual Cutting Machines
- Fabrication Booths
Skills & Experience Required
- Good level of written and spoken English
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- ONC/HNC served apprenticed trained technician
- Experience of working in a fast-paced production environment
- Good Aptitude for Pneumatics and Hydraulics
- Confident to respond positively when under pressure and meet deadlines
- Teamworking skills to work co-operatively and liaise with departments
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- An awareness of Health and Safety Legislation
- 17th / 18th Edition Wiring Regulations preferred not essential
- Able to carry out Basic Welding and Machining preferred
