We are seeking an experienced and driven Account Executive to join our growing commercial insurance team in Southend-on-Sea. This role offers the opportunity to inherit and develop an established portfolio of approximately £200K Gross Written Premium (GWP), alongside generating new business across key sectors.
You will be responsible for managing and expanding a book of clients across a range of commercial classes, including Fleet, Contractors, Liability, Professional Indemnity (PI), and Business Combined policies.
Key Responsibilities- Take ownership of an inherited portfolio of commercial clients (c. £200K GWP)
- Build strong, long-term relationships to maximise retention and growth
- Identify and convert new business opportunities within the local market
- Advise clients on appropriate cover across Fleet, Contractors, Liability, PI, and Business Combined
- Negotiate with insurers to secure competitive terms and coverage
- Work closely with Account Handlers to ensure excellent service delivery
- Maintain compliance with FCA regulations and internal procedures
- Develop a pipeline through networking, referrals, and local business engagement
- Proven experience as an Account Executive or similar client-facing role in commercial insurance
- Strong technical knowledge across Fleet, Contractors, Liability, PI, and Business Combined
- Demonstrated success in retaining and growing a book of business
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated with a strong new business focus
- Knowledge of the Southend-on-Sea / Essex market is advantageous
- Cert CII qualified (or working towards) preferred
