About the role
Our client is seeking an EL PL Portal Claims Handler to join their team in Newcastle.
Salary: Competitive
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break (35 hours per week).
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Managing a caseload of low-value personal injury claims within the EL/PL portal.
- Reviewing initial claim information and verifying key details.
- Monitoring and recording important dates (e.g., limitation dates).
- Preparing allegations of negligence and breaches of statutory duty.
- Completing Claims Notification Forms within the EL/PL Portal.
- Regularly updating clients and internal stakeholders, including team leaders.
- Commissioning and liaising with medical and other expert witnesses.
- Negotiating and communicating with insurers, solicitors, courts, Counsel, and other relevant parties.
- Assessing damages for pain, suffering, and loss of amenity.
- Gathering and valuing evidence for additional claims such as loss of earnings and care assistance.
- Preparing Schedules of Special Damages.
- Managing cases through all stages of the Portal, including Stages 2 and 3.
- Preparing files for court proceedings and hearings, including Briefs to Counsel and Trial Bundles.
- Reporting any challenges or delays on cases to the team leader.
- Handling telephone inquiries from clients and third parties promptly.
- Collaborating with and supporting other team members as needed.
- Undertaking other tasks as reasonably requested by management.
