EL/PL Portal Claims Handler Join a Leading Legal Team in Newcastle
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £30,000
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am5pm (35 hours/week, 1-hour unpaid lunch)
Are you experienced in handling Employers Liability and Public Liability (EL/PL) claims? Our client is looking for a Portal Claims Handler to manage a caseload of low-value personal injury claims within the EL/PL portal.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive legal team in a well-established firm committed to delivering excellent client service.
What Youll Be Doing:
- Managing a caseload of low-value EL/PL claims within the MOJ Portal (Stages 13)
- Reviewing incoming claims and verifying key information
- Monitoring and recording critical dates (e.g., limitation periods)
- Drafting allegations of negligence and statutory breaches
- Completing and submitting Claims Notification Forms (CNFs)
- Communicating regularly with clients, insurers, solicitors, courts, Counsel, and experts
- Commissioning medical reports and liaising with expert witnesses
- Assessing and valuing claims for general and special damages, including pain, suffering, loss of earnings, and care assistance
- Preparing Schedules of Special Damages
- Preparing files for litigation, including Trial Bundles and Briefs to Counsel
- Keeping internal stakeholders informed and escalating delays or issues as needed
- Handling client and third-party enquiries professionally
- Supporting colleagues and contributing to team success
- Completing other tasks as reasonably assigned by management

- Minimum 1 year of experience handling EL/PL claims within the portal
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Word and Outlook)
- Highly organised with excellent time management skills
- Able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
