We are looking for an experienced Shift Controller/Supervisor to join our Leeds depot team and help us continue our growth. In this role you will supervise workshop staff and oversee the service and repair of a wide variety of vehicles, including refuse trucks.
Qualifications
- Experience in a role such as Workshop Manager, Supervisor, Foreman, Shift Controller (preferred)
- Experience managing HGV technicians and workshop staff (preferred)
- Extensive experience as an HGV Technician / Mobile HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic
- HGV technical / mechanical experience (required)
- Experience in the Waste/Recycling industry would be great, but not essential
- Municipal experience preferred
- Repairs and wheel alignment (required)
- HGV Technical qualification – NVQ or City and Guilds equivalent
- Class 2 licence preferred
- Understanding of the HGV industry and its requirements (required)
- Excellent customer service, ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Awareness and understanding of Health & Safety practices
Duties
- Management and supervision of night shift workshop staff including HGV technicians
- Work delegation to maximise productivity throughout the workshop
- Respond to customer demands and direct workshop staff as necessary
- Lead from the front, operating as an HGV Technician where required
- Undertake MOT inspections & final quality inspections ahead of all final tests
- Coaching and development of workshop staff to achieve right‑first‑time fix
- Ensure workshop staff adhere to health and safety legislation
- Adhere to quality standards and monitor vehicle repair, technician repair and shift controller processes
- Maintain high level of customer care through effective line management, SLA adherence and VOR tracker reports
- Monitor financial management and operational costs
