An opportunity for an ambitious Analyst, Case Manager or early-stage Underwriter to step into a more commercially involved underwriting position within a high-performing specialist property lender. This role blends deal assessment with hands-on case progression, offering real exposure to structuring and executing bridging and development finance transactions from day one.

The Specialist Lender

We are recruiting on behalf of an award-winning specialist property finance lender operating across England and Wales. The business supports SME developers and investors with loans ranging from £250k to £10m across bridging and development-led transactions. With strong lending volumes and a disciplined underwriting track record, the platform is built around execution quality, clear credit strategy and consistent delivery.

The Underwriter Role

This is a hybrid position combining elements of Sales Case Management and Underwriting. You will be involved in analysing deals, packaging cases and supporting the underwriting process, while developing the capability to take on greater underwriting responsibility over time. Working closely with senior Underwriters, Sales and Transaction teams, you will gain full exposure to the deal lifecycle — from initial enquiry through to completion in a fast-paced, highly commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the assessment and packaging of bridging and development finance deals
  • Assist with underwriting analysis, identifying key risks and considerations
  • Manage cases through the transaction lifecycle, ensuring efficient progression
  • Liaise with brokers, borrowers, solicitors, valuers and internal teams
  • Review valuations, legal documentation and supporting reports
  • Prepare and contribute to credit papers and deal summaries
  • Ensure all cases are structured appropriately within credit policy
  • Maintain accurate records and clear audit trails
  • Build a strong understanding of underwriting principles and deal structuring

Skills & Experience

  • 6 months – 3 years’ experience with Bridging Finance Cases
  • Background in a Sales Support, Case Manager, Analyst or junior underwriting within bridging
  • Strong interest in underwriting and deal structuring
  • Good understanding of the property lending process
  • Commercial mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-moving environment
  • Clear and confident communication skills

Salary, Bonus & Structure

Salary Dependent on Experience. Quarterly bonus structure, with total annual bonus potential of ~25% of salary. Monday to Friday, office-based role.
