About the Portfolio Manager Development Finance Role
As Portfolio Manager, you will play a critical role in managing and driving a pipeline of live development cases from initial structuring through to drawdown, monitoring, and successful exit. You’ll work closely with internal credit, underwriting, and BDM teams to support completions, while maintaining oversight of the development lifecycle to mitigate risk and ensure successful outcomes.
This is a highly visible role within a fast-scaling division—ideal for someone looking to grow with the business and take on more responsibility as the team expands.
- Structure and originate development finance deals from initial enquiry to Heads of Terms.
- Manage a live pipeline of cases, working closely with brokers, borrowers, valuers, and surveyors.
- Oversee each development through its full lifecycle, from first drawdown to final redemption.
- Prepare credit reports and present cases for Credit Committee approval.
- Conduct regular portfolio reviews, identifying risks and providing recommendations.
- Support wider team initiatives and continuously seek improvements in process and service.
Portfolio Manager Development Finance Skills & Experience Required
- Development finance experience from a specialist lender or challenger bank.
- Strong understanding of the full lifecycle of a development loan.
- Knowledge of construction risk, valuation methodologies, and monitoring surveyor processes.
- Ability to analyse complex cases and structure bespoke lending facilities.
- Proven communication skills – confident in dealing with brokers, borrowers, and professionals.
- Existing relationships with property professionals (valuers, MSs, brokers) advantageous.
