About the Role
As a Land and Planning Analyst, you will sit at the very front end of the land acquisition process. Your analysis will directly influence which sites are pursued, promoted or transacted. You will research land opportunities, assess planning viability, and produce clear, commercial summaries for senior decision‑makers. This is an analytical, investigative role with real commercial impact and exposure to the full lifecycle of land sourcing and planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively search for land opportunities using mapping tools, planning portals, databases and local authority websites
- Identify plots with development or resale potential, including underutilised or overlooked land
- Analyse local planning policies, zoning, constraints and emerging council plans
- Assess viability including planning risk, deliverability and value potential
- Produce concise reports and recommendations for senior land buyers and planners
- Support land promotion strategies and, where required, planning applications
- Maintain organised records of land searches, assessments and opportunities
Skills & Experience
- Background or strong interest in land, planning, surveying or property analysis
- Understanding of the UK planning system and how local authority plans operate
- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
- Confident using mapping tools, planning portals and research databases
- Commercially aware with the ability to assess risk versus opportunity
