Take on a genuine player-manager role, with a clear path to firm directorship, in a brand-new Bristol office built for a team that wants to do things properly.

About the Company

Our client is a multi-award-winning residential conveyancing specialist, with offices across London, the Cotswolds and a newly-opened, central Bristol office. Known for a fast, transparent, fixed-fee approach and consistently rated among the best in the industry by clients, they act on residential transactions across the country, including a significant proportion of high-value properties over £1 million.

About the Role

This is a genuine player-manager role at an early, formative stage. You will manage a personal caseload of 10-30 complex residential cases while overseeing a team of six - two lawyers, two paralegals and two legal assistants - signing off work, training junior staff and helping shape how the Bristol office runs day to day. With potential to lead multiple teams and progress toward firm directorship in the short to medium term, this is a chance to build something from a genuinely early stage, in a brand-new, purpose-built office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a personal caseload of 10-30 complex residential conveyancing cases
  • Oversee and manage a team of six, comprising two lawyers, two paralegals and two legal assistants
  • Sign off work and provide hands-on technical training and development for junior staff
  • Support the day-to-day running of a newly-opened Bristol office
  • Help build the team and processes as the office grows, with scope to lead multiple teams over time
  • Act as a technical point of escalation, complementing the office's existing commercial leadership

Package

  • £60,000-£75,000 basic salary, DOE
  • Substantial year-end bonus
  • Approximately 60 days' annual leave, including a 9-day fortnight
  • Office-based for the first 3 months, then up to 2 days per week from home
  • Based in a brand-new, central Bristol office with an on-site gym and yoga studio
  • Genuine potential to progress to firm director in the short to medium term

Skills & Experience

  • 4+ years PQE in residential conveyancing
  • Enthusiastic, ambitious and genuinely motivated to train and develop junior staff
  • Comfortable balancing a personal caseload with people management responsibilities
  • Resilient and calm under pressure, in a role that is demanding but genuinely rewarding
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach, comfortable being close to the work rather than purely managing from a distance

Why Apply?

This is a chance to join right at the start of a new office's journey, with less personal billing pressure, significantly more time off and higher pay than many competitors offer, plus a genuine, near-term path to firm directorship for the right person.
