With an established presence across bridging finance, refurbishment loans, auction purchases, HMOs, conversions and semi-commercial property transactions, the business is entering an exciting growth phase and is seeking an experienced Underwriter to help lead the journey.
This position is ideal for an experienced property finance professional who enjoys analysing transactions, making lending decisions and taking responsibility for outcomes. You'll assess a broad range of straightforward and complex property-backed lending opportunities while working closely with senior leadership to shape underwriting standards and support the future growth of the lending function. The successful candidate will become a key decision-maker within the business and play an instrumental role in scaling underwriting operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite bridging and specialist property finance transactions
- Assess residential, semi-commercial and conversion opportunities
- Review borrower profiles, project viability and exit strategies
- Analyse valuations, legal reports and supporting documentation
- Present and justify lending decisions
- Structure deals within agreed lending criteria and risk appetite
- Manage cases through to completion alongside operations colleagues
- Identify and recommend improvements to underwriting procedures
- Support the development of underwriting policy and best practice
- Help build and lead the underwriting function as the business grows

Skills & Experience
- 5+ years' underwriting experience within bridging finance, specialist finance, development finance or property lending
- Strong understanding of residential, semi-commercial and refurbishment lending
- Experience reviewing HMOs, conversions and value-add property projects
- Confident making lending recommendations and credit decisions
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Commercial awareness and sound judgement
- Ability to communicate effectively with brokers and borrowers
- Desire to progress into leadership responsibilities
- Ambitious, proactive and highly accountable mindset
