We are working with a leading regional construction firm that is seeking a Managing Estimator to join their expanding team and play a key role in securing and pricing a diverse range of construction projects.

Role Overview
As Managing Estimator, you will lead the estimating function across the business. You’ll take ownership of tender submissions, pricing strategy, and cost planning, while overseeing and mentoring a team of estimators. The role will involve hands-on estimating for a range of projects, as well as strategic involvement in bid management and business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and in-house bills of quantities for D&B, civils, and refurbishment projects
- Lead and support the estimating team, ensuring consistent, high-quality output and professional development
- Oversee pre-qualification and tender submissions in collaboration with directors and bid teams
- Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to source competitive quotations and build strong supply chain relationships
- Identify and assess project risks and opportunities, and recommend mitigation strategies
- Ensure alignment with company objectives through close collaboration with commercial and senior leadership teams
- Represent the estimating function in internal reviews and client-facing meetings
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experienced estimator with leadership capabilities and a proven track record of pricing projects independently
- Strong commercial acumen and deep understanding of UK construction methods and cost structures
- Client-focused with excellent attention to detail and communication skills
- Comfortable managing both strategic and day-to-day estimating activities
Essential Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in estimating, ideally including civils and refurbishment projects
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members
- Proficient in Causeway or similar estimating software
- Full take-off experience across all building elements
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in a construction-related field (preferred)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Experience pricing both single-stage, two-stage, and negotiated tenders
