The Role

This role is based in London and reports to the head of the Innovation, Design and Technology group. The role involves engaging with corporate clients to understand their needs, identifying opportunities for innovation and technology enabled improvements, and shaping solutions that the IDT team can design and deliver. A strong focus is placed on encouraging meaningful lawyer adoption of GenAI, supporting complex use cases and helping Corporate teams develop future ready delivery models.

About You

You have experience in Corporate transactional work and an appreciation for the role that technology can play in enhancing the client and employee experience. You are comfortable working directly with clients and partners to uncover needs and shape solutions. You work well with multi disciplinary teams and can communicate clearly with both legal and technical audiences. You have an entrepreneurial mindset, are comfortable with uncertainty and enjoy driving change. You are comfortable working in a matrix structure and capable of managing the (sometimes competing) expectations of multiple senior stakeholders. You can work with limited information and can build and present business cases based on reasonable and defendable assumptions. You are calm in unfamiliar territory and are eager to explore new domains. You are empathetic and can train and support others to work in uncertain conditions. You are well organised and can work on several projects at the same time including supervising or consulting on the outputs of others. Creativity, experimenting, and inspiring others is second nature. You are driven to improve the client experience and are an innovator at heart.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client and Partner Engagement
    • Act as a business partner to partners and lawyers in the Corporate group, developing a strong understanding of client priorities and commercial drivers.
    • Build relationships with clients to identify challenges and propose innovative or technology enabled solutions.
    • Represent the IDT team in client conversations and proposals.
  • Opportunity Identification and Qualification
    • Identify opportunities to improve service delivery through process change, technology adoption, automation and new delivery models.
    • Assess commercial impact and prepare cases for investment.
    • Translate needs into defined requirements for IDT teams.
  • GenAI Adoption and Complex Use Case Support
    • Lead efforts to embed GenAI into Corporate practice.
    • Support the development and deployment of complex GenAI use cases.
    • Provide coaching, training and guidance to lawyers.
  • Solution Design and Delivery Support
    • Work with IDT colleagues, and teams outside of IDT to shape and deliver solutions that meet legal and client needs.
    • Support pilots, proof of concepts and wider roll outs.
    • Track progress and report to stakeholders.
  • Future Ready Operating Models
    • Help Corporate teams adopt scalable, efficient work models.
    • Support the development of new commercial and delivery structures.
    • Integrate support teams including the Newcastle Office where appropriate.
  • Coaching, Training and Change Leadership
    • Coach lawyers on technology enabled delivery.
    • Deliver training on GenAI and improved ways of working.
    • Mentor junior colleagues.

Key Skills and Experience

  • 4 + years PQE in a major Corporate transactional practice area
  • Experience leading improvement or change projects
  • Strong understanding of GenAI tools and experience driving adoption
  • Knowledge of Legal Technology market and available tools
  • Ability to learn new tools and approaches quickly
  • Understanding of Agile and SCRUM delivery methodology
  • Experience with presenting to large and small audiences
  • Experience using statistics and data to enhance advocacy efforts
  • Operates well in a flat culture
