The Role: We are looking for a Claims Dispute & Litigation Controller to join our Claims Team in Newcastle. This role sits within a growing Newcastle disputes practice with a primary focus on aviation-related claims, acting for major airline clients on passenger disputes. Alongside this, you will also gain exposure to a broader range of consumer disputes work, offering a varied and dynamic introduction to commercial litigation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to develop hands-on litigation experience within a global firm, working as part of a collaborative and high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist legally qualified colleagues in the conduct of high-volume consumer claims, both within the aviation sector and in other key sectors.
  • Maintain accurate case management records and meet court deadlines.
  • Review claims, client evidence, and other documentation to inform liability decisions.
  • Draft legal documents including defences, witness statements, and other court forms.
  • Support CPR-compliant case progression, produce exhibit bundles and hearing bundles.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, counsel, and third-party opponents.
  • Attend mandatory mediation appointments.
  • Produce post-trial reports feeding into a process of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure efficient, commercially focused claims handling.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Experience in claims, paralegal, or litigation support roles.
  • Interest in aviation and consumer litigation.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail.
