Are you a newly qualified Clinical Psychologist looking to gain experience in Neuropsychological Rehabilitation?

Or are you an experienced Clinical Psychologist keen to broaden your expertise this field?

We’re looking for a motivated and compassionate Clinical Psychologist to join our established therapy team at Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your specialist skills while making a real difference to the lives of people recovering from traumatic and acquired brain injuries.

Offering a permanent contract working three days per week, this role could be ideal for a newly qualified Clinical Psychologist looking to build their experience, or an experienced psychologist seeking to further their career in specialist neurorehabilitation.

Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre provides intensive inpatient rehabilitation for people with complex needs following a brain injury. Our service includes 29 Level 1 and 23 Level 2 neurorehabilitation beds, supporting patients from across the South West.

Working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team, you’ll contribute to the assessment and rehabilitation of patients experiencing cognitive, emotional and behavioural difficulties following brain injury. You’ll have the opportunity to apply your psychological knowledge in a specialist clinical setting, helping patients work towards meaningful rehabilitation goals and supporting their families and carers throughout the process.

You don’t need to be an established neuropsychology specialist to apply. We’re keen to hear from Clinical Psychologists with an interest in neuropsychological approaches and a commitment to developing their skills. Support will be available to pursue the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN), alongside ongoing clinical supervision and professional development.

If you’re passionate about helping people rebuild their lives following brain injury and want to grow your career within a supportive, specialist team, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Completing comprehensive neuropsychological assessments to understand patients’ cognitive, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Supporting the multidisciplinary team (MDT) with clinical formulation, diagnosis and rehabilitation planning.
  • Delivering evidence-based psychological interventions, including cognitive and mood-based therapies.
  • Designing and implementing individual behaviour modification programmes using a Positive Behaviour Support approach.
  • Coordinating therapeutic programmes and supporting patients to achieve their rehabilitation goals.
  • Providing psychological support and education to patients, families and carers about acquired brain injury.
  • Contributing to MDT meetings, patient reviews, discharge planning and service development.
  • Managing and prioritising your clinical caseload in consultation with the wider Psychology Team.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and producing timely clinical reports.
  • Contributing to education and training for the MDT.
  • Maintaining professional standards through ongoing CPD, clinical supervision and compliance with relevant BPS and HCPC guidance.

About You:

Essential

  • HCPC registration as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • A genuine interest in developing your expertise in clinical neuropsychology and neuropsychological rehabilitation.
  • Neuropsychology placement experience as part of Clinical Psychology training, or equivalent.
  • An understanding of the cognitive, emotional and behavioural difficulties that can arise following acquired brain injury.
  • Strong assessment, analytical and report-writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and sensitively.
  • The ability to build rapport with patients and families and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to professional development, clinical supervision and evidence-based practice.

Desirable

  • A postgraduate qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology.
  • Experience in brain injury rehabilitation.
  • Experience of designing and implementing behavioural programmes.
