DPSS303 - Personal Assistant - 6 hours per week - Sandfields in Port Talbot

Pen Picture of the Person Requiring Assistance: I’m a very young at heart lady in my 30s, living in the Sandfields area. I am happy, outgoing, and bubbly. My friends and family describe me as funny. I have autism and a learning difficulty. I am Disney mad. I have a lovely outlook on life and enjoy being active and getting out and about. I like eating out occasionally, going to the cinema and walking on the beach.

Hours of Work

6 hours per week to be used as:

• 3 hours on a Monday to attend a youth club in Swansea (driver essential).
• 3 hours on a Saturday or a Sunday to go walking or swimming (weather dependent).

Tasks Include

• Someone to take me to youth club on a Monday. This takes place in Swansea, so you would need to be able to drive.
• Someone to be with me for three hours on a Saturday or a Sunday to partake in some kind of exercise walking or swimming weather dependent.
• Supervising me when we’re out and helping me to stay safe.
• Any other reasonable tasks.

Looking for a PA who

• Has patience.
• Is fun loving, chatty and likes to talk about different subjects (especially Disney).
• Is compassionate with a good sense of humour.
• Is a good role model.
• Someone able to work professionally & flexibly.
• Someone who will treat me with dignity and respect.
• Some experience of supporting adults with disabilities would be an advantage but not essential.
• Someone who is physically active and can prompt and encourage me to keep fit and healthy by going for walks and possibly attending some fitness classes.
• Is proactive.

This vacancy is being advertised on behalf of an individual employer. You will be employed by that individual and not Neath Port Talbot Council.

This post may require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC). If this post requires you to work with children then it is compulsory for you to have a DBS check prior to commencement. If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement. You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences. You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
