We are currently seeking a flexible and self-motivated individual who enjoys working as part of a team to join our section as a Transfer Station Plant Skilled Operative (non-HGV). This position will be based at our Waste Depot and Transfer Station, Crymlyn Burrows, Swansea. The Waste section in Neath Port Talbot provides a vital service to our residents; collecting and dealing with all the waste and recycling across the County Borough. The Transfer Station at Crymlyn Burrows plays a crucial part of this operation and in Neath Port Talbot we currently recycle approximately 67% of our waste.

As a Skilled Operative, you’ll have a hands-on role in the daily operation, maintenance, and cleansing of the facility at the Transfer Station. Acting as banksman, you will direct all waste delivered to the site, ensuring that each waste stream is tipped off in designated bays. You will be required to operate a range of plant and machinery, including forklifts, mechanical shovels, MEWPs, balers, and shredders, ensuring safe and efficient waste handling. Your responsibilities include manual and mechanical sorting, site upkeep, and routine site and equipment checks. You will complete essential paperwork, follow strict Health and Safety standards, and support team operations. The work of our Skilled Operatives is focused on complying with these standards and minimising nuisance and harm in a safe working environment. This is a dynamic, physical role ideal for someone proactive, safety-conscious, and ready to work as part of a team in a clean, efficient waste management environment.
