About the role: At Neath Port Talbot we want to improve the wellbeing of our children and young people so they have the best start in life. In Children and Young People Services we pride ourselves on being a service that strives for excellence and supports its employees to achieve their potential by incorporating a comprehensive induction programme, providing regular supervision and appraisals, and facilitating ongoing training and development with opportunities for progression throughout the service.
Our service shares best practice and supports working groups such as the First Three Years in Practice Group and the Practice Improvement Group. Staff wellbeing is a priority in Children and Young People’s Services and we endeavour to promote this constantly.
The successful applicants will join a safeguarding team and have access to an established management structure of one Team Manager, four Deputy Team Managers and two Consultant Social Workers; regular supervision (at a minimum of every 28 days); flexible hybrid working arrangements, such as compressed hours; and access to training for ongoing learning and development opportunities.
Neath Port Talbot Children’s Services has one of the lowest caseloads across Wales, allowing staff the capacity to provide high quality support whilst also having a healthy work-life balance. We are currently looking for a Social Worker to join the Children’s Single Point of Contact (SPOC) Team based in Neath Annexe. You will be part of a committed and dynamic workforce working alongside families and professionals undertaking assessments in line with the Social Services and Wellbeing Act which focuses on achieving positive outcomes for families, children and young people in NPT.
The role also includes undertaking child protection enquiries and, when required, managing the case until the initial child protection conference or Initial Court Hearing. Experienced Social Workers are encouraged to apply and applicants are required to have experience (through placements or work) in Children’s Services including undertaking Section 47 investigations, child protection, the public law outline and care proceedings.
