Job Title: Senior Child Practitioner

Hours: Full Time 37 hours per week (Shift work to include days, nights, weekends and bank holiday duties on a rota basis). Weekends and nights enhancements paid as per rota in line with the Local Authorities policies. Secure allowance of an extra £3,000 will be paid on a 37HR contract. Overtime may be available. Potential for higher salary.
Location of post: Hillside Secure Children’s Home, Off Burnside, Cimla, Neath, SA11 1UL.
Age restriction: 21 years and above in line with the Welsh Government’s National Minimum Standards for Children’s Homes, Section 20.
About the Centre
Hillside Secure Centre provides a high quality of care and education for 14 young people, aged 10‑18 years, within three secure living homes. We adopt an eclectic therapeutic approach supported by an in‑house clinical team and offer education, vocational and recreational learning opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute through a team approach to the effective and efficient running of the Home.
- Manage a team of staff undertaking tasks and working with young people to enable positive change in behaviour and attitudes.
- Support young people in coping better with life and achieving personal development.
- Ensure compliance with registration requirements set out by Social Care Wales.
Qualifications & Training
To be eligible, you must: have experience working with young people, preferably in a residential setting; possess personal skills, abilities and knowledge in childcare, youth justice and specialist fields; be able to work shift based rota, including days, nights, weekends and bank holiday duties.
The successful candidates will be required to complete a QCF Level 3 in Care for Children & Young People within 3 years of appointment. Behaviour Management training is essential.
Compensation & Benefits
