Salary: £37,280 - £40,777 per annum.

Contractual hours: 37 hours per week, full time.

We are currently looking for a Deputy Registration Manager to join our team. You will support and deputise for the Superintendent Registrar in ensuring the effective, efficient and legally compliant day‑to‑day operation of the Local Registration Service. The postholder will coordinate and oversee delivery of all civil ceremonies and civil funerals, manage bookings, liaise with customers and stakeholders, and ensure services are delivered to a consistently high standard in accordance with statutory requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Superintendent Registrar in overall management of the local Registration Service for births, deaths and marriages.
  • Supervise and provide day‑to‑day guidance to Registration Officers, ensuring smooth and efficient operation of the register office.
  • Oversee delivery of statutory registration services, maintaining compliance with legislation and council policies.
  • Supervise complex or sensitive cases, providing expert advice and support to staff and the public.
  • Process card payments and coordinate bookings and ceremonies.
  • Deputise for the Superintendent Registrar as required, representing the service at meetings and events.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service and professionalism across the team.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Previous registration experience (essential) and knowledge of relevant Acts and Regulations.
  • Management experience and knowledge.
  • Experience working within a customer-focused environment.
  • Experience of supporting, motivating, and supervising a team.

Ideally you will have:

  • Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) Registrar’s Qualification, or willingness to work towards this.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at work.
