About the role:

We are currently seeking to recruit a Contact Officer to join The Adult Safeguarding and DoLS Team. The role of the Contact officer will be to support the Adult Safeguarding and DoLS Team by working collaboratively with the Duty Social Worker and Duty Manager to make initial enquiries gathering information and facts into reports concerning adults at risk. The role involves gathering relevant information, liaising with partner agencies, which in turn then contributes to the decision-making process regarding safeguarding concerns.

We work alongside a range of professionals within the teams, including colleagues from the health board, police, therapies and children’s services. It is an exciting time to join adult social care with friendly, experienced and supportive colleagues who are dedicated to provide a service that puts citizens at the centre of our work.

Our work is with people experiencing complex situations, and you will be adept at building partnerships within our organisation as well as with partner agencies. We are keen to hear from individuals who want to work within a forward-thinking, innovative team. If you are committed to driving outcomes for those we support, are able to practice and support others in making Safeguarding person-centred and can promote positive risk-taking.

You will have a strong desire to support the Local Authority’s objectives in ensuring it meets its duties under the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act and importantly, to enable people in our community to live safely, free from abuse and neglect. You will be supported by frequent high-quality supervision and peer/leader support daily, alongside development opportunities. Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at NPT is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.

About you:

Do you have:

  • A reasonable standard of education to GCSE (or equivalent) level.
  • A related experience of working with people with social care needs in the communities they live in, with families and with their social networks, either in a paid or voluntary capacity.
  • A qualification related to the Social Work or Caring Professions e.g. BTec Social Care, Nursing, NVQ and some knowledge and understanding of principles of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 would also be an advantage.

About us:

We believe in rewarding and recognising our colleagues’ efforts and achievements. We also believe that there’s life at work and life outside of work. We want everyone to be healthy and happy and have the financial resources and support they need. Choose to work for us and you’ll be rewarded with a range of attractive benefits and support to help you live your best life.

Hybrid working (in some roles) and flexible working schemes to improve your work-life balance. Benefit from a competitive employee package with a remarkable 22.4% employer pension contribution. Enjoy a holiday entitlement of 25 days, increasing to 32 days after 5 years’ service (not forgetting the additional 8).
