We are currently seeking an individual to join our team as an Electrical Foundation Apprentice within a busy Maintenance section of the Council’s Building Services Department based in Tregelles Court Neath Abbey.

You will work closely with experienced staff learning new skills and gathering valuable experience in a Building Services environment.

We work on all public buildings throughout the local authority such as Civic buildings, Leisure buildings and educational premises, we carry out numerous renovation projects throughout the authority covering Neath and Port Talbot.

The successful candidate will be initially expected to work towards a L2 Core Qualification in Construction & Building Services (Engineering) with the possibility of progressing to a L3 Electro Technical Qualification.

Your daily routine

  • To obtain the necessary skills to enable the individual to be an effective trade operative on completion of the apprenticeship.
  • Ensure works are carried out to the required specification.
  • Ensure that Quality Assurance requirements are fully adhered to.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety at Work Regulations and Policies are strictly adhered to.

About you

  • To be able to communicate effectively.
  • To work on own initiative and as part of a team, being able to take instruction and advice from colleagues.
  • To be able to undertake site-based activities, which at times may be in challenging conditions.
  • To understand the Importance of administration procedures in relation to the task and the need for paperwork to be completed in the required time.
  • Have experience of any Personal achievements, interests e.g. Duke of Edinburgh Award, club memberships, Sport, St Jon’s Ambulance etc.
  • Minimum of 2 GCSE’s, minimum grade C - Maths and English/Welsh or their equivalent.

Fixed term position

This is a 24 months fixed term position with possibility of extension and progression.
